AMC’s Season 5 premiere of “The Walking Dead” made its anticipated return last night and it drew in a series high with 17.3 millions viewers, more than one million more viewers than last season’s record of 16.1 million viewers. Go ahead and let that sink in for a bit. The show keeps getting bigger and bigger every season, which means great things for horror in general.
Based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics, “The Walking Dead” tells the story of the months and years that follow after a zombie apocalypse and follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, who travel in search of a safe and secure home.
It stars Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Chandler Riggs, Melissa McBride, Emily Kinney, Danai Gurira, Chad Coleman and Sonequa Martin-Green.
