It is hard to believe that it has been 8 years since the original “Wolf Creek.” Greg Mclean is back 8 years after directing “Wolf Creek” and 6 years after directing “Rogue.” Mick Taylor (John Jarratt) is back and proves himself once again to be an evil, vile person. His little giggles and manuerisms are even better this time around. He is just a cool character. Mick comes off as almost a Freddy clone here with the one-liners. Of course, I have always been more of a dark Freddy fan moreso than the joking Freddy. The same could be said for Mick.

“Wolf Creek 2” also has a great soundtrack which offers some levity to go along with the story. That is the major difference to this film. There is more levity involved. The humor is not done is a cheesy way as many films are lately. It is a humor done with adds to the film instead of detracting or being a main focus of the film.

Another difference is that the original was along the lines of a torture porn movie and this one comes off more like your typical slasher. I like this type of strategy better. I think that I actually liked the sequel a little more too. This is a great premise for a horror film with an ordinary guy chasing down his victims in the outback. In a lot of ways, this one reminds you more of the classic “The Hitcher.” While this one is not nearly as good, it is a very solid movie in its own right.

Let’s just hope that we do not have to wait another 8 years for another sequel.

Is Wolf Creek 2 Worth Watching?

Of course it is. This is a definite winner for fans of slasher films and fans of the original “Wolf Creek.”
