2.Review-When I first heard about Vikings I was not really stoked or the least bit excited. I mean, I was a fan of Spartacus after the first season blew me away, but everything after the end of that season has really disappointed me. Game of Thrones I know is the holy trinity in geekville, and I am a somewhat fan of the show, but certain aspects of the show just bore me. Vikings on the other hand, as I watched the first season I started to really get into it and even though the finale felt anti-climactic in terms of delivering the punch it needed to, it did what a show that has big plans does, and that is build the future of the series. Vikings follows Ragnar Lothbrok who is a Viking hero seeking to fulfill his conqueror destiny, with him for this journey is Rollo his brother and Lagertha his wife. Throughout his quest, Ragnar faces a path of betrayals and temptations to protect his freedom, family, and life. When Ragnar teams up with his boat builder friend Floki (Gustaf Skarsgard) to craft a new generation of intrepid ships capable of conquering the rough northern seas, the stage is set for conflict. This will end the generic friendly part of the review, now we are really going to talk about this more. I will not spoil this whole blu ray but I will say right now, that this show works more on the build then the delivery. Burial of the Dead was such a letdown, we built up this confrontation between Ragnar and Nordic Tribe leader Earl Haraldson which was supposed to be the turning point of the season and I felt it failed. I mean when the last episode Raid was so brutal and really delivered on a setup, I felt that Dead is what a problem this show has and I hope it works on for next season. It has great storytelling that I will put in league of shows that I love like Walking Dead in terms of character building and importance on situations. This show is clever at making the viewer feel the tension and importance out of every move and word. The funny thing about this show is that it makes it clear that allegiance is so important but the Vikings themselves seem to switch sides and constantly backstab each other. This show also has a dark underlining evil in terms of Rollo who seems to have eyes for his brother’s wife Lagthera, which I will not spoil or the weapon of a pit of snakes. All I will say is that this show is really a good show that I wish delivered more on what each episode builds up to, but I am really stoked that I got to finally sit back and watch this show. This show is really going to be something in season two and I cannot wait to see how it plays out.
