Rolling Stone is reporting that guitarist and songwriter Lou Reed (Velvet Underground) has passed away at the age of 71. There is no official cause of death but Reed underwent a liver transplant in May.
Reed has been releasing music for nearly 50 years and is seen by many as a pioneer in the punk and rock and roll genres. He returned to the mainstream eye with the release of “Lulu,” which was recorded with Metallica.
Rest in peace, Mr. Reed. We will miss you.
