Carrie Finishes Third at Box Office

The “Carrie” remake failed to generate the type of box office business you would have expected from the only horror movie receiving a wide theatrical release in October. It opened with an estimated $17 million this past weekend, a respectable number but one that is far below the previous reigning Halloween horror franchises “Paranormal Activity” and “Saw,” which regularly topped $30 million this time of year. “Carrie” also took in less also less than the “Evil Dead” remake from earlier this year, which had similar expectations but opened with nearly $9 million more in fewer theaters.
