Tuesday March 19th at 7:30 at the Hollywood Theatre, Repressed Cinema presents a double whammy of underground films from Spain: Maximum Shame (feature) and The Phallus Killer (short).
Maximum Shame is a tough one to classify. Director Carlos Atanes’ first English speaking feature weaves philosophy, BDSM fetishism, chess, absurdism, and the musical, into one transdimensional piece dealing with the dynamics of power and oppression.
“A deep philosophical journey across a decaying minimalist playground on the fringes of reality. Oh, and it’s a musical.†Mike Everleth – Bad Lit: The Journal of Underground Film
Preceding Maximum Shame is subversive Spanish punk Naxo Fiol’s short entitled The Phallus Killer. Beware: graphic adult content. No duh. Look at the damn title.
Portland filmmaker Bob Moricz will be here in person to introduce the films.
Repressed Cinema is a monthly exhibition series at the Hollywood Theater showing vintage & contemporary films that are obscure, neglected and from the fringe. Curator Bob Moricz is an underground filmmaker and director of the Portland Underground Film Festival.
On a personal note you have Bob Moricz and they are showing a Carlos Atanes film, holy fuck talk about a night that could go down in mental history….this is what they call a must witness event…
