I figured that people would be looking for some Valentine’s Day-themed horror movies for the holiday, so I picked the ones that I could think of off the top of my head. If I am missing any, and I sure I am, fill in the list for me.
My Bloody Valentine (1981)
A decades old folk tale surrounding a deranged murderer killing those who celebrate Valentine’s Day, turns out to be true to legend when a group defies the killer’s order and people start turning up dead.
George Mihalka’s Canadian horror movie was a damned fine film that got basically got shit on throughout the 80s. There was no love for the film for years, but it then started to gain an underground following. Following the 2009 remake of this film, most people still did not realize that there was an original My Bloody Valentine. Oh well, their loss. I love this film.
My Bloody Valentine (2009)
Tom returns to his hometown on the tenth anniversary of the Valentine’s night massacre that claimed the lives of 22 people. Instead of a homecoming, however, Tom finds himself suspected of committing the murders, and it seems like his old flame is the only one will believes he’s innocent.
So, here we are with Patrick Lussier’s remake of My Bloody Valentine. Todd Farmer even wrote the screenplay for this one. I have to say that this film was fun as hell. I have never seen the 3D version in its entirety. I missed it in the theater and my 3D Blu-ray is unbearable to watch. I have issues with trying to watch 3D movies on television. It is hard enough to get through the theatrical versions of 3D movies without getting headaches, but watching them on television, for me, gives me an instant migraine. It looks like it would be fun as fell in 3D though.
The film is all about the kills and the gore. Most of the gore is sweet, yet over the top. I watch this film every few months and it never seems to get old.
Four Friends start to receive morbid valentine day cards. Someone out there is stalking them….someone they all spurned when they were younger. And Valentines Day 2001 is the Day she/he gets their revenge.
Jamie Blanks’ Valentine stars the luscious Denise Richards. And for the ladies, they get David Boreanaz. Okay, enough of that though. Back to Richards. She is getting older, but is still smoking hot. Not many movies scenes are hotter than her scene in Wild Things. Back to Valentine though. As a whole, the film is not that bad. I have watched it quite a few times, but not really in the last few years.
Lovers Lane (2000)
A man who killed 13 years before goes out on the loose to kill his victims’ children.
I love me some slashers – even the cheesy ones, and Lovers Lane is about as cheesy as they get. It is an 80s horror movie released in 2000. This is a guilty please for me that I have to watch every once in a while.
My Boyfriend’s Back (1993)
Missy McCloud is the most beautiful girl in school and Johnny Dingle has been in love with her for years. One night, Johnny is killed trying to win her over, and soon he comes back from the dead, and wins Missy’s heart.
Well, the horror stops here basically. My Boyfriend’s Back is about Johnny coming back from the dead for his girlfriend Missy. Sounds lame, huh? Well it is. For some reason, this one jumped into my mind though.
