Machine Head Bassist Adam Duce Leaves the Band

Machine HeadMachine Head bassist and founding member, Adam Duce, has left the band. Machine Head has announced this on their official web site. No specific details have been revealed yet, but the band has made it clear that Duce parted on good terms. The band states that they “would like to wish Adam the best with his current and future endeavors.” Duce, who had served as Machine Head’s bassist since its inception in 1992, contributed to all seven of their studio albums. His departure leaves frontman Robb Flynn as the only remaining original member.

Machine Head intends to continue as a trio for the time being. They have now begun the writing process for the successor to 2011’s highly acclaimed “Unto the Locust.”

You know that I am not liking this news because I am a huge Machine Head fan and Adam is a hell of a guy. I have talked to him on a few ocassions and did not see this one coming. Him and Robb have always worked so well together.

I hear you on that one. I did not see this one coming at all. I talked to Adam a couple of times before Unto the Locust came out and he seemed a little disgruntled at the time, but he was so into the new album and he thought that it crushed The Blackening. Once the album came out and the tours happened, he was still around, so I figured that all was cool. I guess not though. Him and Robb have been through so much together that is really shocks me.

  • A sign Mike that we are getting older, most of our fave bands are either having members quit, they split the band up or they die. Until the last 15 years I never viewed music as business, I always thought of it as friends getting together making music and having fun.
