Dark Skies ended up with an absolutely horrible opening weekend finishing in sixth place with an estimated $8.85 million. That is the weakest opening of producer Jason Blum’s recent horror hits (including Insidious, Sinister and the Paranormal Activity series) since the original Paranormal Activity, which opened on just 12 screens in 2009. Thankfully, the budget was only $3.5 million, so it is still making a profit. My question is where is the support for horror? This should have been an easy week for them to score #1 since the top movie only made $14 million.
