Metal Review: Audrey Horne – Youngblood (2013)

Audrey Horne - Youngblood (2013)Featuring past and present members from Enslaved and Gorgoroth, Norwegian rock band Audrey Horne will be releasing their fourth studio album entitled Youngblood, which is definitely not a sum of its parts. You cannot hear any influences from the aforementioned bands in Audrey Horne’s sound at all. Instead, you hear some classic hard rock sounds barely in the metal realm.

Having formed in 2002 and taking its name from Sherilyn Fenn’s character in the cult TV series Twin Peaks, Audrey Horne has transformed themselves from a post-grunge project to a band with a nice sense of melody with the ability to write a decent song.

Each song has its own unique feel to it, but one thing remains constant throughout – they know how to rock and they know how to play. There is no denying their musical skill and knowledge. The songs are catchy and retain a nice groove from track to track. While I will not find myself listening to this release too often, I do know that I will be listening to it more.
