Recently, I reviewed AC/DC’s latest live album, Live at Riverplate. There is a lot to love about that live album, such as the amazing production and mixing, but I found that there was far too many filler songs on there. I am sure that most people would agree with that sentiment on just about any live album though. I wanted to write up my dream setlist for a live AC/DC show. The rules are 15 songs plus 3 encores.
Back in Black
Shake Your Foundations
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
Who Made Who
If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It)
Flick of the Switch
Have a Drink on Me
Shot Down in Flames
Shake a Leg
Put the Finger on You
Shoot to Thrill
You Shook Me All Night Long
Highway to Hell
For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)
That is pretty much what I would do for my dream AC/DC setlist. Hells Bells seems like an obvious choice to open a show. The opening is one of my favorite openings of any songs out there. The ominous opening lends itself perfectly to opening a show and then when it starts to rock, it really starts to rock.
After that opening, I have my favorite AC/DC track, Back in Black. This is just another number to get the crowd fired up. We then roll into some of the older tracks before getting into the newest tracks on this list, Thunderstruck and Who Made Who. We then run into some of my favorites of theirs before closing out the set with a couple of classic oldies – Shoot to Thrill and You Shook Me All Night Long, the latter of which seems like a great song to get the crowd fired up to scream for more. And when they get more, they get some of the more popular AC/DC tunes in T.N.T. and Highway to Hell.
As far as closing out the show, you have to close it out with For Those About to Rock (We Salute You). This is another one that starts off strong and never relents. The ending of the opens itself up for fireworks to close out the set.
