The Apparition disappeared at the box office this weekend by conjuring up an estimated $2.95 million – good enough for only 12th place this weekend. While that sounds horrible, you should note that The Apparition was only released on 800 screens across the country. Warner Brothers could have cheated themselves out of a top 3 release seeing as though this was easily the smallest-grossing box office weekend of the year so far. If The Apparition had opened on a more realistic number of around 2,500 screens, it could have ended up with a second-place finish.
Synopsis: When frightening events start to occur in their home, young couple Kelly and Ben discover they are being haunted by a presence that was accidentally conjured during a university parapsychology experiment. The horrifying apparition feeds on their fear and torments them no matter where they try to run. Their last hope is an expert in the supernatural, but even with his help they may already be too late to save themselves from this terrifying force.
