Phil Anselmo, lead singer of Down and former lead singer of Pantera (and part of about a million other projects) and true crime best-selling author Corey Mitchell have teamed up to bring us all Anselmo’s autobiography, which has a tentative title of Mouth For War: Pantera, Pain, & Pride – Heavy Metal Highs, Drugged Out Lows, & The Battle For My Life. Quite the mouthful on that one. Agent Jeff Herman had been shopping the book around and the proposal was picked up by Jeremie Ruby-Strauss at Gallery/Simon & Schuster. The book is tentatively scheduled for a 2014 release.
The description states that the book is, “a no-holds barred look inside of Philip’s brain, his history with Pantera, the loss of his best-friend, Dimebag Darrell, and an unflinching examination into the downward spiral of pain and drug addiction that nearly cost him his life.”
Author Mitchell was given carte blanche to interview anyone and everyone he deemed necessary to get the full story. I know that I am stoked for this one. I am really not a fan of too many autobiographies outside of technology and historical folk, but I can really get into this one. There is so much to still know about Phil and especially the breakdown of Pantera and the loss of Dimebag Darrell. Of course, you know that they will reach out to Vinnie Paul. I am curious to see if he will speak on the topic of Phil.
