Nerd Table are a local band out of Columbus, Ohio formed in 1998. I discovered them thru a song Halliburton. Which was 2010′s and 2011 best song. I am a lifelong music fan. I did college radio, and worked at and managed more record stores than I care to admit to. As much as I talk about film, music is always my first love. I know a lot of people will read this review, and if I am positive they will claim it is because of me being friends with the lead vox Adam Casto, or me myself being on this cd and if I am negative, we had a falling out. Ha, I cannot win in this review. Chasing the Bronco, you Nerd fans it has what you come to expect from the band. Bloody Glove, deserves to be on modern radio. Adam’s take on the OJ trail, and the debacle that became that trial, you almost knew from the title of the cd that they were going to be going there at least once. And, Adam even questions that did OJ really do it or was the media to blame for us not knowing the truth. And speaking of what should be where; holy fucking shit is their version of Nirvana’s Floyd the Barber the best Nirvana cover song. Now, I will not even harp that they had a bit of a cheat and 2 former members of Nirvana helped out. But, I think even Cobian would admit this one. Adam Casto proved on this song that he deserves a shot and that Nerd Table want to break out and fucking deserve to. And, there are the mature tracks that have to show the growth…Saved and also Lonely Again as out of place as they felt, they worked because they are so catchy and really show people there is more to this band than screaming, politics and humor, that they are serious musicians. Then, there is this gem called Terri Schiavo, I would love to be at an all-ages show and they break this song out. Oh man, I am here talking about maturity and they truly at least bring some of their style that fans know very well to light. Oh lord, this song is ummmmm……you have to hear it to believe it. I won’t give this away for free…
Then there is Noise of Earth part 4 to close this cd. Of course, this is the bonus with Rodleen Getsic of The Bunny Game doing a minute speech, me doing a 55 second spoken word piece and etc. This felt almost like a fitting end to this cd. This spoken word piece is so fucking off the wall weird that it will make almost everyone want to do some kind of drug or drink immediately. And the Nerds doing a song about Corey Haim, genius, a band that made songs about having sex with my mom, are now saluting Corey Haim. I may be a little biased in my review, but I think in 2012, this is the shape of music to come. Rolling Stone and Spin Magazine, stop talking about generic crap music. This is the sound of the underground. 2012′s most important cd has just come to light. This one has to be heard to be believed.
