Metal Review – Decapitated – Carnival is Forever (2011)

Decapitated - Carnival is ForeverWe all wondered if Decapitated would ever release their fifth studio album after the tragic bus accident that claimed the life of Guitarist Waclaw “Vogg” Kieltyka’s brother/co-founding member/influential drummer Witold “Vitek” Kieltyka. It was a sad day in metal to lose such an influential musician, but I am glad that Vogg picked up the pieces and decided to come back strong to honor his brother.

With Carnival is Forever, Decapitated brings a lot of what they have previously done to the table while mixing it up a little bit. The album is decidely darker and heavier and I like the direction that Decapitated took with it. From the opening track, The Knife, you have a sense of what the new Decapitated is bringing and I think that it works nicely.

Still as technical as ever, the musicians do not miss a beat and give us a solid technical release that I have not been able to get enough of these last few days. All in all, this is an easy addition to your collection.
