Film Review-Donnie Darko (10th Anniversary Edition blu ray)

It is hard to believe it has been 10 years since the original release of Donnie Darko. We all know the story, the film came out and went to home video so fast, and just disappeared. And then a few years down the line, thanks to being on cable..the film got a 2nd life..they re did a few things to the music and the film and re released it. And, then the love/hate affair started with director Richard Kelly. And a lot of fans, saying this film was a fluke, then starting to damn this film due to his resume since. This review is all about this little cult film that put quite a few people on the map and also helped a few careers that fizzled.

Donnie Darko is the rare film, it went from regular dvd, to special edition double disc dvd..then regular blu now the definitive 4 disc anniversary. In a minute I will go over the special features, but I am one of the few people who has now bought all 4 versions. The first blu ray that came out was when Blu Ray was in its beginning stages and the sound was not so good…this blu ray corrected all the sound problems and put so much new material on this 4 disc set..check this stuff out

This is the must. Should you dip and buy this? Hell yes, I have the original blu ray and it is bare bones..this is just such an amazing chronicle of this film. I wish they would have talked to Drew Berrymore on it, about why Flower Studio picked this film up, that would have been a good piece… but I wont bitch..instead I got to watch this film with 2 commentaries in perfect quality. And the Darkomentary is just such a fun watch for someone like me, that cheer leaded Donnie Darko for almost 8 years. Plus, this was probably Jake’s best film. I know some places have this on sale for under 20.00 and to me that is almost too good to be true. I would beg all of you, if you never seen Donnie Darko or you are unsure about investing in yet another version. This is the be all end all of Donnie Darko. Buy..Buy..Buy ASAP….This film for me holds such a special place, and is the only proof Richard Kelly has talent…
