Metal Review – Enslaved – The Sleeping Gods EP (2011)

Enslaved - The Sleeping Gods EP (2011)Over the course of 5 tracks and 28 minutes, Enslaved’s latest EP, The Sleeping Gods, serves up a mixture of metal ranging from black metal to progressive metal to viking metal that will engage and challenge you. Enslaved is a band with a diverse back catalog, with fans that enjoy parts of their catalog and fans that enjoy their entire discography. I am a fan of most of their music and The Sleeping Gods is no different. I am really getting into this release and enjoying it thoroughly.

Like I mentioned previously, Enslaved makes use of many different subgenres of metal, some of which are employed within the same tracks. With The Sleeping Gods, they weave in and out of genres of metal and quickly as normal bands change riffs. The intertwining of genres make the music more of an experience than a simple listen. There are not many bands that you can say this about these days, or maybe even ever. Enslaved is definitely one band that can paint a detailed portrait for you to envision while enjoying the music.

Enslaved’s The Sleeping Gods EP is available as a free download, so make sure that you check it out. I cannot imagine too many people will be sad that they did.
