Shawn French dares us to enter The Wrong House in June

Maine-made “The Wrong House” to be distributed nationally on June 7

Nearly three years ago, a break-in at the home of Maine filmmaker Shawn French inspired the revenge flick “The Wrong House”, in which he and wife Sue Stevens inflict bloody vengeance on the kids who burglarize their rural home. The film began self-distribution through Amazon in May, 2010 and critics and horror fans around the world have embraced this dark and trippy, Maine-made horror film.

On June 7, “The Wrong House” will be hitting store shelves nationally thanks to a partnership between French’s Wisdumb Productions and distributors Elite Entertainment and SlingShot Entertainment.

“We’re thrilled to be taking the next step and bringing this film to a wider audience. The reception so far to our twisted little flick has been astounding,” said French of the film that was recently named one of the Ten Best Horror Movies of 2010 by Jude Felton of

Critics call it “a trippy no-trespassing sign shot to screen” (London Grip); “Good, violent fun” (; and Fright Meter recently named Sue Stevens their 2010 Best Supporting Actress, beating out the Hollywood competition for the first-ever win or nomination of this award by a Maine production.

The June 7 national DVD release will be loaded with special features, including:

*Commentary track with writer/director Shawn French, producer/actress Sue Stevens and FX artist Eric Anderson of the Portland-based FX group The Shoggoth Assembly.

*Featurette (29 minutes) on the stuntwork in “The Wrong House” (French broke three ribs during this extremely physical shoot).

The film has also been fully re-mastered since its original self-distribution release. “I’m psyched to finally be able to unveil the final cut,” French said. “The upcoming release contains a tighter, cleaner and more intense version of the film that horror fans have been eating up.”

The current Director’s Release of the film will be pulled from shelves forever on May 7 to make way for the fully loaded Elite/SlingShot release on June 7.
