Chase the slut review

I got a film in the mail today called Chase the Slut, oh boy. I will not even begin to tell you what was going thru my mind as to what kind of film this could be. Oh man, it is going to be violent, rape or a gorefest. Hell, porno even crossed my mind. Romantic comedy did not. Tibb and Chase are friends since childhood, and Tibb is the rich girl and Chase is..you guessed it the slut. Tibb makes a bet with Chase to seduce this christian boy named Gabe, and you guessed it. Chase the slut falls in love. But, the bet is to break Gabe in for Tibb to win him over. Tibb always seems to bet money with Chase to do things. And Chase needing money to fix her car seems to do all these dares.

Chase is a loner, so to speak who uses sex as a means to fulfill the void in her life that feels incomplete. She feels like a trapped mouse in a dead end town and has dreams of getting the hell out of the state and starting over and maybe getting rid of the slut moniker. Gabe, is part of a elusive cult of the disciples of Noah. He is raised on all these good values. They have marriages that arranged as to what animal eats the bowl of food in front of a group of women. If the animal eats your bowl of food, you get married. Chase to do this bet, has to go to this cult and try to fit in. And woo Gabe. And things just get strange and Chase soon realizes she is in love.

This film was fun. It felt like those mid 90’s coming of age films. ( the ones that were either about Suburbia or seemed to have Parker Posey in them) The film has such a dark comedy tone, not like the ha ha Airplane sense, more like the I know people like that sense. The film makes many statements on today’s issues like social value, acceptance and perception. Chase was wonderful, her wit and charm shined thru the whole film. Tibb, played the rich bitch to the tee. That at one point, you did not know who to root for. Did you want Chase to fall in love with Gabe, or Tibb to steal him away? Now if you are expecting a orgy of sex and nudity. You will be sad. There is zero nudity. But, if you are looking for a well written adult comedy that will have you talking after it is over in a positive way. This is fun. A note to all critics if you have a screener, do not have any pre conceived thoughts of what the film could be about.
