Metal Review – Havok – Time Is Up (2011)

Havok - Time Is Up ReviewRelease Date : 03.29.11

Thanks to Candlelight Records for getting us this advance to check out.

Havok returns with their second full length for Candlelight Records. Havok is at NAMM for the next week and will kick off touring in support of Time Is Up in mid-February.

Time Is Up, the band’s follow-up to Burn, and as soon as the album opens up, you hear some classic thrash going on. Havok has done a fine job of recreating some classic thrash sounds while keeping their music fresh and relevant to today’s bands. From the outset, Prepare for Attack is a pretty catchy song with massive thrash riffs blazing in and out. Fatal Intervention us another song that hearkens back to old Overkill sounds.

Overall, the album flows nicely with solid riffs and solid leads. This is a definite pickup for all of you Thrash Metal (myself included) die-hards. You will not regret picking this one up.

Denver-based thrashers return with their second album. working with producer James Murphy, the band turns the heat up with amazing new thrash anthems. on their 2009 debut, Burn, Havok quickly showed metalheads that they were much more than your average thrash band.  Even Gene Hoglan (Fear Factory) took note of the young band saying, “Havok lays it down old-school heavy like a sharp stick in the eye.” Time Is Up immediately showcases the band’s highly skilled musicianship.
